Law students across the UK are being encouraged to apply for a place on the UK Pro Bono Week Student Council as organisers prepare to mark the event’s 25th anniversary this November.
The council is open to undergraduate and postgraduate law students from UK institutions and will support UK Pro Bono Week, which runs from 2-6 November 2026. Student volunteers will attend talks and workshops, write reports and help collect data from events taking place across the UK.
Places are limited and demand is expected to be high, so students are encouraged to apply early. Applications close on Monday 21 September 2026.
University law societies and pro bono societies are also invited to take part in a social media competition linked to this year’s theme: “Celebrate a tradition. Inspire action. Shape the future”. Prizes will be awarded for the best content by an independent panel of communications experts.
Founded in England and Wales in 2001 before expanding to Northern Ireland and Scotland in 2020, UK Pro Bono Week celebrates the legal profession’s contribution to providing free legal support to those in need.
This year’s programme will focus on three key areas:
Law students interested in joining the Student Council can apply via the registration form. Law and pro bono societies wishing to enter the social media competition should contact Connor Beaton, senior communications officer at the National Pro Bono Centre, at [email protected].
