The Law Training Centre (LTC) announced the launch of its new CILEX professional qualification (CPQ) courses after officially receiving approved training centre status from CILEX (Chartered Institute of Legal Executives) in September 2021.

The new CILEX CPQ course will complement the CILEx qualification pathways that CILEX offers.

The LTC decided to add three stages of the new CPQ route to its current suite of paralegal, chartered legal executive, licensed conveyancer, probate practitioner and solicitor qualifications.

This will enable its learners to qualify as a CILEX paralegal, CILEX advanced paralegal, or CILEX lawyer. Each level can be purchased as a package or individually.

The entire CPQ foundation course with LTC is available for £1,830, with individual prices ranging from £250 to £500. On completing the foundation level, trainees can call themselves CILEX paralegals.

The CPQ advanced stage with LTC is £3,000 for five units, however, individuals can also purchase individual units for £600 each. Once completed, individuals will be CILEX advanced paralegals.

The CPQ professional stage courses are available from £1,250. As well as completing this stage, trainees must evidence their competence via their professional experience portfolio and CILEx Regulation will assess their professional competence. After this, they will become a CILEX lawyer and qualify with practice rights in at least one area of law.

The LTC has been a trailblazer in offering alternative pathways into law since 2015. It has since blossomed into the first online accredited training provider to deliver training for aspiring solicitors, legal professionals.

They LTC is also recognised for their unique approach and flexible online learning which enables students to control their studies. The LTC course fees include webinars and a personal academic coach.

Education director for LTC Eve Dullabh said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be able to bring even greater choice to learners who want to pursue a career in law through the launch of our CILEX Professional Qualifications. We have always been passionate about breaking down the barriers to a career in Law and we’re confident that the CPQ, which has been designed to increase inclusion and employability in the legal sector, will help achieve this. This latest evolution of the pathway to qualification as a CILEX lawyer is something that we believe will continue to be incredibly popular with our learners”.

Michelle Cross, head of marketing at CILEX, said: “The CPQ provides students with three outcomes – CILEX lawyer, CILEX advanced paralegal and CILEX paralegal. These are badges of quality and assurance to employers who need work-ready legal staff and bring regulation and standards to the paralegal market for the first time.

“The new qualification builds on CILEX’s core propositions of accessibility, affordability and flexibility with CILEX students combining work and study. It marries legal knowledge with the skills, behaviours and commercial awareness needed in the modern legal market and introduces mandatory elements of legal technology, business skills and emotional intelligence for the first time in legal training.”
