The Law Society of England and Wales has joined forces with LawCare, The Solicitors’ Charity and the Mindful Business Charter to launch the Solicitor Wellbeing Alliance, aimed at improving mental health and wellbeing across the legal profession.
The initiative follows LawCare’s Life in the Law 2025 research, which found that half of respondents had experienced anxiety in the previous 12 months. Three in five reported poor mental wellbeing, while 43.4% said their mental health and wellbeing was significantly influenced by work.
The alliance will bring the four organisations together to provide a more coordinated approach to wellbeing support for solicitors and firms. Its priorities include improving awareness of existing resources, sharing insights on emerging wellbeing issues and identifying ways to positively influence workplace culture and working practices.

Former Law Society President Mark Evans said that “no single organisation” could tackle the wellbeing challenges facing solicitors alone. He said the collaboration would help raise awareness of existing support, share expertise and “drive healthier workplace cultures across the profession”.
Over the coming year, the organisations plan to develop practical resources and share learning to help solicitors and legal workplaces take positive action on wellbeing. The initiative also aims to provide the profession with a more unified voice on mental health and sustainable working practices.
