First CILEx legal apprenticeships underway in Wales

updated on 20 February 2015

The first CILEx-taught legal apprenticeships in Wales have begun through Admiral Law and New Law.

CILEx Law School is delivering the scheme, with 10 apprentices studying for the Level 4 higher apprenticeship in legal services and two studying the Level 3 advanced apprenticeship. CILEx Law School reports that one of the apprentices, Ross Sinfield of Admiral Law, is also the school’s 100th legal apprentice since apprenticeships were introduced in 2013 – showing that while apprenticeships are making steady progress, there is still a way to go before they become a widely adopted mainstream route into the profession.

Jenny Pelling, Business Director at CILEx Law School, commented: "We are pleased to have funding in place in conjunction with Cardiff-based ACT to service the apprenticeship needs of our clients in South Wales. We look forward to watching the careers of their staff develop through the apprenticeship route."
