The Bar Council and Bar Standards Board have confirmed that there were 335 newly-registered tenancies for 2011-12. This is a massive 38% drop from 541 in 2010-11, and significantly below the five-year average of 499.
As reported in Legal Futures, the figures were contained in the annual Bar Barometer. Still, it is worth noting that the actual figure us better than the figure originally released, which erroneously stated that the tenancy number was just 194.
