Statistics from the latest round of exam results show that more aspiring lawyers than ever are choosing the CILEx route into the profession.
The number of students to sit the CILEx level 6 modules, which are assessed at honours degree level, increased by 48% on the last exam session in January. The Central Applications Board revealed last month that the number of LPC applications had fallen by 10% compared to the previous year, while in the same period the number of applications for the CILEx graduate programme increased by 32%.
Vicky Purtill, CILEx’s head of qualifications, commented: “CILEx’s graduate route into law is becoming more and more popular, which is a reflection of the credible opportunities our earn-as-you-learn route into law brings.”
