Bircham Dyson Bell and Pitmans enter merger talks

updated on 14 September 2018

Mid-sized City firm Bircham Dyson Bell and regional firm Pitmans have announced the commencement of talks over a potential merger.

Partners will vote on the proposal on 27 September. If the merger is agreed, the combined firm will be catapulted into the top 50 for revenue in the UK, employing some 80 partners and 404 legal and support staff.

The “exploratory merger discussions” have identified several factors that would make the two firms a good fit. Both have a similar sector focus, covering a range of commercial practice areas. They also align geographically, with Bircham Dyson Bell based in London and Pitmans headquartered in nearby Reading, but also maintaining a London office.

The firms’ staff and clients now await an announcement expected later this month.
