BPP increases scholarships

updated on 18 April 2019

BPP University Law School has announced an increase in the scholarships it is offering this year.

More than £1 million in full and partial scholarships will be awarded to academic high achievers, students who display potential and those from less-privileged backgrounds. The total includes four new full-fees scholarships.

One of the new scholarships is named after Lord Chris Holmes, former lawyer and Britain’s most successful Paralympic swimmer ever. He said: “While hard work is normally a prerequisite to success, not everyone gets the opportunity to showcase this potential. This scholarship is geared towards individuals who have the desire to follow a legal career, having overcome any manner of hurdles. It also applies to future talent who have inspired others and contributed on a social basis through charitable endeavours.”

Niamh Ingham, current BPTC scholar at BPP, spoke about how access to funding has made a difference to her career. She said: “BPP offers a wide range scholarships and I think this is what really sets BPP apart from other providers. I was fortunate enough to receive support from the BPP scholarships fund which, alongside my Inns scholarship, allowed me to complete the BPTC without worrying about tuition fees. As a candidate from a low-income background, these scholarships were fundamental to my career and I look forward to commencing my pupillage in September.”
