Huge pupillage award hike at Wilberforce

Wilberforce Chambers has announced an enormous 35% pupillage award increase, with pupils' salaries rising from £48,000 to £65,000 for those starting Autumn 2013.
As reported in The Lawyer, this will mean that Wilberforce now offers the highest pupillage award among the top 10 chambers, with the others offering no more than £60,000. John Furber QC, Wilberforce pupillage committee chair, said: "We want to make clear we're looking for top candidates and therefore want to offer a competitive award."
The last big rise was in October 2009, when both One Essex Court and 3 Verulam Buildings announced a rise to £60,000 for their pupils.
