Many law firms have produced "horrendous" applications (apps) for smartphones, while others are still operating websites which are incompatible with mobile devices, according to a report by notable business consultant Kim Tasso.
Tasso's report on apps goes on to recommend that larger firms exercise stricter control over their apps and conduct more research into how businesses can best use technology, or face the risk of damaging their reputations. As reported in Legal Futures, Tasso's findings were the result of analysing apps aimed at a range of practice areas including commercial law, litigation, personal injury and family law.
However, the report's main concern was to highlight the urgent need for businesses to make their online content compatible across devices, as Tasso explained: "There will [soon] be no perceived difference between mobile and web. As an absolute basic minimum… make sure your website (your most basic information about your lawyers and your services) is viewable on a mobile device."
