Amicus' production of The Exonerated

"In my first trial, I knew I was going to prison -

I had eleven whites and one black on that jury." Robert, The Exonerated

Civil liberties barristers Tunde Okewale MBE and Dr. Leslie Thomas QC and death row exoneree Sunny Jacobs, whose case is depicted in the play, headline The Exonerated, a powerful play focusing on six true-life death row exonerations.

"They tell you exactly how they're gonna do it. They're gonna send twenty-two hundred volts of electricity through your body until you're dead." Sunny, The Exonerated

The aim, all the more key given the current US political climate (e.g. the recent spate of executions in Arkansas) is to raise awareness, through drama, of the human rights abuses surrounding capital punishment.

It will take place on Tuesdsay 16 May 2017 in central London (Middle Temple Hall). The cast also includes Olivier-award Best Actor winner Jamie Parker (Harry Potter in Harry Potter & the Cursed Child).

"[The Exonerated] is doing its part, bringing audiences face to face with the intolerable human consequences of a wrongful conviction." Clive Stafford-Smith, Capital defence attorney & activist

Amicus is a human rights charity that helps to provide legal representation to those facing execution in the US.
