The Law Students' Network would like to invite you to our event 'Life as a Local Authority Lawyer', in association with Birmingham City Council's legal services department. Birmingham City Council's legal services is the largest in-house local authority legal department in the UK. The aim of this event is to provide members with a greater insight into the opportunities that are available when working in house as a lawyer for a Local Authority.
Michael Day trained with Birmingham City Council's legal services and qualified as a solicitor in September 2010. Michael will talk about his experiences as a trainee and the council's practice areas including civil litigation, criminal litigation and employment. Vaneeti Walia will discuss her practice area, adults and social care. Stuart Evans the Head of Planning and Development will discuss the Council's non contentious practice areas.
