Learning in the heart of the city

Cloth Hall Court is Leeds Law School's home in the heart of Leeds' legal quarter. It has excellent facilities including modern lecture theatres, a mock court room and dedicated resource room for postgraduate students. Being based in the heart of the city's legal district, Leeds Law School encourages and supports students to improve their employment prospects by building links with the legal community.

Leeds Law School students often take part in internal and external mooting competitions, using the Mock Court Room at Cloth Hall Court. The Student Law Society is one of the most active groups at Leeds Metropolitan, with over 500 members. Many Law Society members take part in the Streetlaw project, a student-led initiative which delivers interactive workshops in schools on issues such as anti-social behaviour legislation and young people's rights and responsibilities.

Professional relevance

Our staff have significant professional expertise from their experience of working as solicitors or barristers, providing students with a learning experience that is academically demanding, but relevant to the legal world.

Our Mentoring Scheme encourages postgraduate law students to link with a professional mentor. At the heart of the scheme is engaging and building contacts with legal professionals, allowing you to gain greater awareness of what qualities solicitors are looking for when they are recruiting trainees. We have over 100 professional mentors from all areas of legal practice.
