Enjoy the spring sunshine, by all means, but don’t totally neglect your commitment to topping up your levels of commercial awareness. At the very least, you should read this handful of business stories from the past week:
- The very opposite of a banana split - a banana merger! Two of the biggest names in bananas, Chiquita and Ffyes, are to merge.
- The troubled Co-op Group has accepted the resignation of its chief exec, Euan Sutherland, who was said to be "demoralised and fed-up".
- Morrisons announcement of a profit warning triggered a chain reaction which saw £2 billion wiped off the value of all UK supermarkets.
- In ongoing PPI compensation news, Argos and Homebase are said to have put aside £25 million to cover claims.
