Two major international law firms have announced new rounds of promotions in their Irish offices.
DLA Piper has promoted six lawyers in Ireland, including two new legal directors, as the firm continues to expand its presence in Ireland. Meanwhile, leading international law firm Walkers also announced several promotions, including Eimear Burbridge and Claire Winrow into partnership positions, signalling the firm’s “strength” and “confidence” in the business.
Oisín Mulvihill, who specialises in finance, was promoted to legal director at DLA Piper, alongside Claire O’Brien, whose work focuses on technology and strategic resourcing, AI procurement and governance and digital services regulation. Four other lawyers at the firm – Jo Kane, Rebecca Clabby, Bella Chan and Aoife Cooney – were promoted to senior associates.
Country managing partner for DLA Piper in Ireland, David Carthy, said: “Their promotions are a direct reflection of the strength of our business, the growing scale of our work in Ireland, and the increasing confidence our clients place in us.”
DLA Piper opened its Dublin office in 2019 and has since expanded its presence significantly across its seven practice groups and business support team, now employing over 70 people, according to the firm’s website.
As well as Burbridge and Winrow’s promotions to partnership, Walkers also promoted Clare Mannion to of counsel, and Michael Gallagher, Demi Mullen and Clarissa Shortland to senior associate positions. Further promotions were seen across the firm’s professional services business (Walkers Professional Services) and its dedicated business services teams.
Managing partner of Walkers’ Ireland office, Jonathan Sheehan, said: “We are committed to recognising and developing the talent within our firm and I’m delighted to see the progression of our promoted colleagues across some of our key practice groups, WPS and business services.”
Sheehan added that the promotions, alongside the firm’s “continued investment” in expanding its teams, highlights the “strength of and the confidence we have in our business”.
