Law Reform Committee essay competition seeks submissions

The Law Reform Committee of the Bar Council is running its annual essay competition, asking for submissions of no more than 3,000 words that identify a desirable, practical and useful law reform.

The competition, sponsored by the Bar Council Scholarship Trust, is open to the following groups:

  • qualifying law degree students;
  • GDL students;
  • BPTC students;
  • pupil barristers; and
  • those aiming for a career at the Bar.

Submissions must be received by 5:00pm on 6 October 2015. Prizes include £4,000 for the winner, £2,500 for the runner up, £1,500 for the best GDL student entry and £1,000 for the runner-up GDL entry. There will also be two awards of £500 for highly commended entries. All prizes will be presented at the Law Reform Committee lecture on 2 December 2015.
