Future Legal Mind 2016 essay competition launched by National Accident Helpline

The National Accident Helpline has launched the Future Legal Mind Award 2016, an essay competition open to undergraduate law and Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) students.
The scheme returns after a successful first run in 2015. This year, entrants will be wittled down to a shortlist of 10 finalists, with the winner to be awarded £5,000 and a two-week work placement at national firm Simpson Millar. Meanwhile, all 10 finalists are guaranteed a prize of at least £250.
This year’s essay question is: “Is the commoditisation of legal services inevitable and is a commercial approach more likely to compromise or enhance the quality of advice and service to consumers?”
Russell Atkinson, chief executive of National Accident Helpline and chair of the judging panel, said: “Future Legal Mind is a great opportunity for law students to gain an invaluable boost to their chances of breaking into the legal profession. National Accident Helpline believes that it is crucial to have a steady pipeline of the best talent entering the legal system to ensure that people continue to have access to justice.”
Those wishing to enter must submit their essays by 18 January 2016.
