CILEx again takes apprenticeship lead

The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) has announced that it is developing a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Legal Services. It will be delivering this new level in partnership with Skills for Justice and The College of Law.
Due to launch in Autumn 2013, the new level will allow employers to ensure that their legal support staff, including paralegals, can get government-funded additional training. Anyone who completes Level 3 and wants to go on to train as a chartered legal executive will be exempt from certain CILEx modules.
CEO of CILEx, Diane Burleigh OBE, says CILEx and national apprenticeships are a perfect match: "CILEx is already home to apprenticeship style learning. We've been leading on vocational learning in law for 50 years … so continuing to lead on the creation of further legal apprenticeships and providing more options for paralegals and aspiring lawyers is only natural."
In addition, CILEx, Skills for Justice, Damar Training and Pearson in Practice are currently working on developing a Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship in Legal Services. Enrolment for the 750 places will begin in March 2013, with the training due to commence in July 2015.
