Fortune favours the brave in Shoosmiths video competition

updated on 02 March 2012

Shoosmiths has announced the winners of its law fair video competition, who have won a place on the firm's summer vacation placement scheme. Students were filmed at various law fairs by trainees using iPads, and were required to answer the question, "Why have you come to the Shoosmiths stand today?". They were encouraged to include information about their experience, their degree and their knowledge of the firm.

Across all the fairs that the firm attended, including at the Universities of Birmingham, Reading, Leicester, Southampton, Manchester and Oxford Brookes, over 60 students were filmed. The six winners were:

  • Lauren Saunders, University of Birmingham;
  • Stephanie Lavington, University of Leicester;
  • Liam Goulding, Lancaster University;
  • Suhaila Alloo, Loughborough University;
  • Will Gomes, University of Reading; and
  • Emma Ward, University of Southampton.

Samantha Hope, graduate recruitment officer, said: "This competition really allowed students to shine by stepping out of their comfort zone. I would like to thank all the trainees who volunteered to attend and film at the law fairs, as well as all the students who were daring enough to give it a go!"

More details on the competition are available on Shoosmiths' newly launched ShoutBack Blog, which also has lots of interesting news about other things the firm's been up to.
