It is well known that problems with maintaining a representative gender balance in the higher echelons of the legal profession (and other professional services for that matter) are endemic. It is also well known that females do disproportionately well in trainee intakes. These raw figures tell part of the story, but you may need to dig a little deeper to find out more about how well a firm’s commitment to equality is working. At least they all accept that such a commitment should exist these days!
