Law Jobs

Paralegal with a view to a training contract for the right candidate

ACA Law Ltd are seeking a dedicated, bright candidate to join the friendly and hard-working team at our expanding practice.

We are a firm with 20 years' experience, and are a well-established presence in Kentish Town where we are based. We are a small team who pride ourselves on creating and maintaining strong relationships with our clients, many of whom have been instructing us exclusively for years.

At present we have very busy criminal and extradition departments. We are looking to increase our team as we expand into other private areas of law including, but not limited to, immigration, employment and family law.

We are looking for a candidate who is willing to learn on the job whilst assisting our solicitors with their caseload. This will be a hands-on role which will involve working on live cases from the very beginning, with close supervision and assistance from the existing team. We are looking for someone who is keen to quickly gain experience and knowledge, who will take an active part in the learning process and will be willing to ask questions and request advice where it will assist them in improving their performance.

The role will be, at first, primarily assisting with our criminal caseload. The successful candidate will be assigned their own files in relation to which they will be responsible for drafting documents, managing the case timetable, and client case. They will also need to obtain instructions from the client which may involve meeting clients face-to-face, whether this be at our office or when visiting them in custody. They will also be trained towards obtaining their police station accreditation to enable them to represent suspects who are interviewed by the police.

The candidate who would excel in this role needs to be able to engage on an equal footing with people from all social backgrounds, and will need to be able to sympathise with people who find themselves in difficult situations, whilst remaining firmly professional at all times.

Ideally candidates will have a 2.1 degree and will have secured their LPC. However an exception could be made for the right candidate whose CV and covering letter reflect the correct abilities. In this role, accuracy in drafting and attention to detail is paramount, and as such we encourage potential candidates to apply these principles to their written applications.

Please email your CV and covering letter to [email protected].
