Paralegal - Real estate

Service overview

"Top quality advice combined with a commercial approach. Quite simply, they 'get it'". Chambers and Partners

We have an outstanding reputation in real estate due to the quality and breadth of our client base and the value and complexity of the work we undertake. We have made a long-term investment in our real estate practice both in the UK and internationally, offering extensive expertise in RE investment, RE funds, student accommodation, regeneration, residential development, and retail. Our team approach, industry knowledge and excellent communication enable us to deliver a full and thorough service to our clients operating across our Bristol, Reading and London offices.

The role

We're seeking to recruit a motivated paralegal to join our "PLEX" team in Bristol, initially on a 12-month contract. The PLEX team consists of paralegals, legal executives and who join discrete client teams in addition to supporting lawyers in our real estate team - all providing a great platform for securing a legal career.

The role provides a mix of project and virtual client team work from a wide range of fee earners from across all three real estate offices. You will have a high level of responsibility from the outset - all in a collaborative and sociable team environment.

Typical activities are likely to include:

  • Reviewing and reporting on certificates of title
  • Producing certificate of title questionnaires
  • Summarising occupational leases
  • Drafting leases and sale contracts
  • Dealing with asset management licenses, rent review memos and deeds

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package.

Technical skills and experience

You'll be an ambitious individual with good academics (minimum 2.1 for degree) who has ideally completed the Legal Practice Course. Previous experience working as a paralegal would be advantageous, particularly if the work entailed real estate matters, but this is not essential. More importantly, you will have the ambition and drive to succeed.

Behavioural competencies

You will:

  • Be organised;
  • Be highly motivated;
  • Be a team player;
  • Have a 'can do' attitude; and
  • Have strong academics.

You will also be committed to working in the Bristol area.

Team

The team is made up of 15 paralegals/legal executives and is led by Lynne Cardwell (Legal Manager).

"I really enjoy the high levels of responsibility OC gives paralegals."

"The lack of hierarchy means you feel fully integrated into the wider real estate team."
