Mayer Brown hires third apprentice on direct six-year programme to qualification as a solicitor

Mayer Brown, the only City firm to run an ‘articled apprenticeship’ programme, has recruited a third apprentice.

The apprentice, Tim Kennedy, will work at Mayer Brown while studying a four-year part-time law degree, followed by the Legal Practice Course and Professional Skills Course, meaning that he should qualify as a solicitor six years after starting at the firm. This articled apprenticeship is the only legal apprenticeship which provides a direct pathway to qualifying as a solicitor, although it is possible for apprentices to eventually become solicitors after completing other types of apprenticeship. The firm’s other two apprentices, Rosie Harrison and David Elikwu, are currently in the second year of the ‘earn while you learn’ process.
