Goodwin Proctor to take on handful of King & Wood Mallesons trainees

updated on 09 January 2017

Goodwin Proctor is seeking validation from the SRA in order that it be able to take on trainees from collapsed firm, King & Wood Mallesons (KWM).

As reported in Lawyer2B, Goodwin is hoping to take on five of KWM’s 60 trainees, becoming the first firm to make public its intention to do so. Other City firms, including Linklaters and Allen & Overy, are also expected to make offers to the affected trainees. In addition, KWM is in talks with the SRA and the Law Society about possible dispensations for those of its trainees that are due to qualify in February 2017.

KWM announced its decision to appoint administrators in a statement in December 2016 and it is expected to go into administration later this month.
