Lewis Silkin and five other firms make The Sunday Times' top 100 employers

Lewis Silkin has been named the best law firm to work for in the country in The Sunday Times' annual "100 best companies to work for" supplement. Lewis Silkin is the highest ranked law firm on the list in 19th place overall, closely followed by Mischon de Reya in 23rd place.

The rankings are compiled according to the results of a 70-question survey undertaken by each company's employees. The questions ask employees their views on the company's management, pay and benefits, as well as about their personal wellbeing and feelings on colleagues. Lewis Silkin scored highly on providing fair pay, incentives and rewards to its employees, as well as opportunities for women to progress into senior positions. The firm was also recognised for its work in combatting the long-hours culture associated with City firms, with targets relating to work hours amounting to 40% less on average than many of the firm's contemporaries.

A total of six law firms made the list. Lewis Silkin and Mishcon de Reya were ranked highest, in 19th and 23rd places respectively, while Baker & McKenzie (70th), Withers (77th), Reed Smith (88th) and Mills & Reeve (90th) all recorded laudable entries in the prestigious rankings.
