After two years of paralegaling, blood, sweat and tears, I've embarked on my final step to becoming a qualified criminal solicitor in 2013. I hope that my previous blogs showed life as a paralegal, that the coming ones show life as a trainee, and if indeed there's a difference. Here's to 18 months and counting...

As a trainee solicitor, I’m not able to represent clients at court. My trials come in the form of a police station interview, where my not-guilty verdicts come in the form of no further action (NFA).

I’ve represented hundreds of clients at the police station who have been arrested for a number of different offences. From the strange and bizarre, to the nasty and downright evil. I thought I'd seen it all until a few weeks ago.

My phone started ringing and vibrating uncontrollably, and was so loud that I was sure the whole apartment block could hear it. I immediately reacted with a groan, as I squinted at my alarm clock. It read 12:56am.
