Robin Hood
Hi all. I am 21, straight from the University of Chester and starting the BPTC at Nottingham Law School this September. Hopefully over the next few months I will give you a unique insight into life as a student on the BPTC, from the dining sessions to the deadlines and all the bits in between that are involved with training for life ahead as a barrister.

This week on the BPTC has been really interesting; I've completed my first set of closing submissions in immigration (If you’ve never done immigration law it’s a completely different style from anything else you will ever do), received my first set of results (not going to say what but I’m very happy!) and also my first offer for a pupillage interview (woo!).

Now that the Pupillage Portal has closed for another year (yay!) and the majority of non-portal applications are done, thoughts turn to one of two things.

I am very relieved to say, as are probably all students on the BPTC, that the compulsory exams are now over and it’s time for the options (in my case advanced criminal and immigration law) to start.

All anyone on the BPTC seems to be going on about at the minute is the opening of pupillage portal.

It's that time of year again where those of you looking at the BPTC are heading off to London for your scholarship interviews at one of the four Inns of Court, so I thought that this might be a good chance to tell you what went on at my interview last year and maybe give you a few tips.

One of the best parts of training to be a barrister is definitely all the functions and dinners you get to go to.

This has been an interesting week. The course only has three or four weeks to go until exams really kick in.

I must admit that I had a bit of a panic about my future this week, most particularly about my CV and whether it was lacking in this or that.

Well, now all the presents are opened, the turkey has been stripped to the bone and the naff-yet-strangely-addictive television has stopped, it's now back to reality and back to looking towards next term and the start of the dreaded exams.

I thought in this blog I’d have a bit of a look back at how the BPTC has developed in the past few months, comparing how I feel now to how I did when I started, and having a look at some of the stuff I have been getting up to and the things I have achieved.

I know I’ve spoken about them before, but seeing as they are a major part of life on the BPTC (there isn’t a week when someone I know isn’t going down to London for one reason or another), I think it’s time I gave you all another little insight on how things are going with the Inns of Court - and for me that means Inner Temple.

I have noticed, via the LawCareers.Net courses page, that the BPTC applications system for September 2012 is now open.

Fun fact of the week: did you know that Sir Ian McKellen is an honorary member of Inner Temple? Well, neither did I!
