About the role

We now have an exciting opportunity for a paralegal/commercial and contracts advisor in the legal and commercial team, on a 12-month fixed term contract with the potential for the role to become permanent in the future.  

This interesting and varied role provides a rare opportunity to provide legal and commercial management support to enable and underpin world-leading science and technology and its commercialisation.

Reporting to the legal and commercial manager, you will:  

• analyse and advise on a variety of contracts, ranging from international research collaborations to commercial agreements, working with both academic and commercial parties;
• help manage the contract process for and on behalf of other STFC departments;
• identify, communicate and find solutions to legal risks;
• participate in the negotiation process;
• be able to advise on individual cases with senior managers, project managers, the IP team and others seeking assistance;
• contribute to the overall team functions as well as handle individual cases independently.

About you

You may be a graduate in law, business or other relevant discipline. You may have completed the GDL and/or LPC or similar qualification.

You will have an ability to understand and advise on standard contractual terms.

You will have a “can-do” attitude and be able to evidence a partnering approach in working with internal customers.
