Deputy research editor
The person
A deputy research editor is required to join the busy research team. In addition to working on research by phone and writing editorial content, the successful candidate will closely support the editor by implementing research procedures and helping to maintain quality standards.
We are looking for an experienced and highly organised individual with strong people and time management skills, an inquiring mind, exceptional written and oral communication skills, and the capacity to work independently and as a mentor within a team.
Candidates do not need a background in law or intellectual property, although they will be expected to have grasped the basic concepts and the dynamics of the market shortly after assuming the role. Salary: c.£24,000 – £27,000.
Responsibilities
- Assisting the research editor with the planning, coordination, development and administration of research projects.
- Assisting with product development.
- Conducting research into international legal services markets using telephone, email and the Internet.
- Presenting findings in tables of leading firms and individuals.
- Writing editorial for business-to-business publications on the basis of tables and research.

The research team analyses the intellectual property sector of the legal services market. Results are published in unique directories: the WTR 1000 and the IAM Patent 1000. High-quality research, accurate rankings, engaging editorial and the ability to build relationships with market sources are the keys to our success in establishing these guides as the essential tool for selecting IP counsel around the world.
