Paralegal

The practice

In June 2013 the firm also acquired a highly rated social housing practice, creating a firm with over 280 fee earners across 4 offices in London, Birmingham, Leeds and Winchester. The firm acts for over 200 clients, including all forms of NHS provider and commissioner organisations, the Department of Health, the NHSLA, regulatory bodies, charities, independent healthcare providers, housing associations, medical malpractice insurers and defence organisations.  

The Commercial department comprises 30 fee earners across four offices and carries out high quality and complex healthcare corporate, commercial, competition and projects work for the NHS and other healthcare bodies from the independent, private and voluntary sectors.

The role

We are looking for an additional paralegal to join our commercial department to assist with their NHS project work for an initial period of four months. 

Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • supporting fee earners in a wide range of commercial and contractual advisory work;
  • basic contract drafting;
  • document and other management in due diligence NHS mergers and acquisitions (including project finance based schemes);
  • working to tight deadlines;
  • research;
  • other duties as reasonably requested.

Skills set

Candidates should ideally have:

  • an LPC or BVC qualification;
  • previous paralegal experience;
  • current/recent experience of working in the commercial and/or healthcare arena would be a distinct advantage;
  • good drafting skills;
  • good communication (written and oral) skills;
  • good administration skills; and
  • basic computer skills.

Candidates will also be expected to demonstrate at interview that they:

  • have good attention to detail;
  • are well organised;
  • are able to work well under pressure;
  • are proactive; and
  • self motivated.
