ULaw staff and students put best foot forward for Guildford legal walk

Staff and students from the University of Law (ULaw) combined to take part in this year’s Guildford legal walk, raising money for the Surrey Law Centre.

The walk is a spin off from the annual London Legal Walk, which celebrated its 10th anniversary this year. The 8km route began at the Guildford County Court and followed a route through the countryside. The 16 members of the ULaw team have raised nearly £400 for the charity; the funds will support free legal advice in the areas of family, housing and community care law.

Judith Pascoe, organiser of ULaw team, said: "The Surrey Law Centre helps many within the local community, who would otherwise not have access to legal services. The recession has increased poverty while funding for free advice centres has reduced, meaning that charity events such as this play an increasingly important part in helping the poorest and most disadvantaged people gain access to justice."
