Professor Nigel Savage, who oversaw the transition of the The University of Law to gaining full university status, was awarded an honorary doctorate at the recent University of Law graduation ceremony.

Savage was recognised for his longstanding contribution to the development of The University of Law’s programmes and his leadership in the profession. Other legal figures to have been named honorary University of Law graduates in the past include Lord Neuberger, Lady Hale and Joshua Rozenberg. Savage commented:  "I am delighted to accept this award and would like to acknowledge all the support that I have received over the years both from colleagues and students at The University of Law and from right across the legal sector."

At the ceremony in London, over 1,000 graduates were recognised for their achievements. Fiona Woolf CBE, chancellor of The University of Law, urged those present to grasp the multitude of opportunities presented to them, reminding the graduates that success may come in many different forms.
