We are looking for candidates with a genuine passion for the law and the legal profession, with proven project management ability and sterling organisation skills.

Alongside your academic ability, we are looking for excellent interpersonal skills and a genuine interest in helping people.

Successful applicants will demonstrate our brand values: they will be passionate about pushing what the law can do for people, have a real sense of wanting to do what is right and a pride in helping the vulnerable. We are a genuine ‘people firm’ and this is reflected in our successes and client testimonials.

We recruit 12-18 months in advance and are currently recruiting for a 2024 intake. Applications can be submitted from 3 January 2023 and need to be received no later than 31 July 2023.

We have an online application and our step-by-step application process is explained on the recruitment pages of our website. Successful applicants will be asked to attend a partner interview and complete a written exercise in September/October 2023.

We do recruit those people who are progresssing down the SQE route to qualification. We would expect applicants to complete two years of QWE with the firm. It is expected that they will already have SQE1 and they will complete SQE2 during this period. They will be supported with a monetary award towards their study of £5,000, paid to the oganisation they decide to study with.

We regret to inform you that CV and covering letter will not be considered.

Anthony Gold is a top 200 multi-specialist firm which has enjoyed substantial growth over recent years. The firm has three offices and is recognised as a leading provider of niche specialist practice areas in injury and medical claims, and social housing, with high rankings in Chambers and the Legal 200 and a number of leading individuals.

Litigation has always been central to the firm’s reputation, an the firm also has some commercial capability as well as providing a full range of traditional private client work including family, conveyancing, wills and trusts.

Our firm has a unique culture, shaped by our brand values:

“We do what’s right for our clients” – we practice ethically; we’re professional in the way we work, going beyond ‘that’ll do’ to achieving the best.

“We push what the law can do” – we know the law and we’re interested in the way it’s applied; sometimes this means testing it, arguing cases in the highest places.

“We want to help those who most need it” – it’s about giving support; helping the vulnerable; championing causes and seeking funding models that work for all.

“We always try to be good with people” – by showing understanding, whether senior partner advising a client in distress or a receptionist welcoming a visitor.

Our partners and staff live by our brand values and our staff-led Responsible Business programme is committed to making a positive social and environmental impact.

As we have a relatively low intake, successful trainees will enjoy early responsibility and a range of seats. With this early responsibility often comes direct client contact; something which may be lacking in larger firms.

We are a growing firm, offering challenging roles with a genuine work/life balance. Our open plan office means that partners, trainee solicitors and support staff work alongside each other. We learn from and support each other and you will enjoy being part of a dynamic team.

Trainees may undertake two, 12-month seats (from family, housing, probate, personal injury and clinical negligence and commercial/civil litigation). We occasionally offer one seat in one department depending upon the needs of the business and the preferred area of the applicant. All of those not progressing down the SQE route will attend the Professional Skills Course (core modules and electives) run by MBL and funded by the firm.
