Pathways to Law application deadline beckons for Year 12 students

updated on 22 September 2014

Year 12 students interested in a career in law and eligible for the Pathways to Law scheme have one week until the application window closes.

Each year 400 applicants are recruited onto the scheme, which inspires and supports academically-able students from state schools. Founded by The Sutton Trust, the initiative receives funding from the Legal Education Foundation. Partner law firms include Allen & Overy, DLA Piper and Hogan Lovells, with the programme delivered through 12 partner universities.

The eligibility criteria for candidates are as follows. Students must:

  • demonstrate an interest in a career in law;
  • attend a state school or college;
  • have at least five As or A*s at GCSE; and
  • be either the first generation in their family to attend university, or be or have been eligible for free school meals (or, where this information is difficult or sensitive to obtain, the participant attends a school that is significantly above the regional average in terms of number of students eligible for free school meals).

Students can apply via the online application portal – the deadline is Monday 29 September.
