London Met reveals its Barrister to Solicitor LPC
Following the announcement by the SRA in May 2012 that BVC/BPTC graduates may be granted exemption from attendance and assessment in certain areas of the LPC, London Metropolitan University (London Met) is running a specialised 'Barrister to Solicitor LPC'.
Currently the only provider to offer such a course, London Met’s BVC/BPTC to LPC conversion course is a one-year part-time course. Students can attend one day or two evenings a week, at a cost of £4,900 for the year. They will be exempt from courses in litigation, advocacy, drafting, practical legal research and two vocational electives. As per SRA regulations, they must have completed the BVC/BPTC no earlier than five years before enrolling on the LPC.
Frances Burton, barrister, mediator and research fellow at London Met, says: "The new course enables talented students to take a proactive approach to moving their careers in the right direction to bring the added value of their Bar backgrounds to finding employment on the other side of the profession."
The course will be available from September 2012.
