Education and training: how can solicitors be better prepared for a competitive market?

updated on 28 May 2015

The Law Society is asking its members to participate in an online discussion on education and training.

The weekly "Twitter Hour" hosted by the Law Society will turn its attention to the needs of solicitors competing in an increasingly busy market. Jenny Crewe, strategic policy manager, highlights in The Law Society Gazette that solicitors are contending with CILEx, accountancy firms and other unregulated providers of legal advice.

Crewe suggests a number of possible initiatives that the Law Society could introduce, based on the activities of other professional bodies. These include a framework for post-qualification recognition, accreditation of CPD providers with a view to improving standards and the opportunity to become a chartered practice.

You can comment and respond to the Law Society’s suggestions for education and training by emailing your views to [email protected] or join the conversation on Twitter (3:00–4:00pm on 28 May) using #LawSociety2020.
