Diversity access scheme awardees announced

updated on 22 September 2015

The 11 awardees of this year’s Law Society Diversity Access Scheme (DAS) have been announced.

The DAS supports diversity in the legal profession by securing funding and work experience opportunities for talented people from less-privileged backgrounds, including those who have escaped conflict zones, oppressive regimes and coerced marriages, and others who live with disabilities. Financial assistance is provided for Legal Practice Course fees, while one-to-one mentoring and networking opportunities are also part of the scheme.

This year, one student is being sponsored through a training contract for the first time. Claire Lathwell will be training at North Kensington Law Centre, where a DAS training contract place will also be made available for next year. In addition to Claire, the remaining 10 DAS awardees are:

  • Nafisa Aden
  • Ruth Nsenga
  • Olivia Wint
  • Aroosa Ahmed
  • Tara Woodward
  • Leasha Newman
  • Danial Butt
  • Ria Begum
  • Harriet Jackson
  • Callanthea Goodliffe

Congratulations to them all. You can learn about next year’s scheme on the Law Society’s website.
