Bar Standards Board to offer in-house training to support staff with CILEx Law School

updated on 19 December 2014

The Bar Standards Board (BSB) will work with CILEx Law School to offer training on the English legal system to its support staff.

The training, which will begin in January 2015, is aimed at staff whose roles do not specifically require existing legal qualifications. Between 10 and 20 learners will study the CILEX level 3 unit entitled “Introduction to law and practice”; the training will be delivered by both distance learning and in-house training, with an exam scheduled for June 2015.

Dr Vanessa Davies, director general of the BSB, said: "It is important that all members of staff at the BSB have a good understanding of the sector, and the role played by the Bar in the administration of justice in England and Wales. This initiative will help us to deliver an even more consistent service to the public and the profession."
