Herbies and A&O consider trainees in Belfast

Herbert Smith has indicated that it is considering offering training contracts to its legal assistants - of whom there are 10 - in its Belfast base.

Reported in Legal Week, Herbies' "nearshoring" Belfast base reviews documents for contentious work across litigation, arbitration and regulatory investigations. Director Libby Jackson said: "We have been very impressed by the academic credentials, commitment and enthusiasm of our legal assistants, all of whom are extremely bright law graduates. In future, we would like to be able to offer an opportunity to members of our team to train as solicitors at our Belfast office."

Allen & Overy has also said it will consider offering training contracts to its legal assistants when it opens its nearshoring base in Belfast later in 2011.
