Students name best vac schemes

updated on 17 June 2011

US firm Latham & Watkins and global giant Baker & McKenzie have been rated by students as the two best vacation scheme providers in the Legal Week Intelligence 2011 Law Student Report; Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton came in fourth place, behind Ashurst. Other firms to make the top 10 were Linklaters, Allen & Overy (A&O), Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Norton Rose. Mills & Reeve and Pinsent Masons were the highest-ranked national firms, appearing at 11 and 12 in the table.

Latham London Managing Partner Nick Cline told Legal Week: "The firm's London office has the advantage of offering high-profile deals for prestigious clients while also maintaining a small office environment."

Students identified A&O as the most prestigious global law firm - a title it earns for the second year in a row. Macfarlanes and Eversheds came top in the City and national law firm categories, respectively.

Meanwhile, Skadden's winning Best Work Placement Scheme Award at this year's LC.N Awards (see "LC.N Training & Recruitment Awards - the results!") can be seen as further proof that US firms' vacation scheme offerings are wowing students.
