Lawyers trek London for charity

On 16 May lawyers, judges and law students hit the streets of the capital to raise money for legal advice agencies in London and the Southeast. The London Legal Support Walk (now in its seventh year) gathers funds to help support law centres and specialist legal advice centres - services which, in the wake of a £2 million budget cut, are expected to suffer badly in 2011. Last year, 4,000 people took part, raising a total of £400,000 (see "Charitable lawyers around the globe hit the streets").
The walk began at the Royal Courts of Justice and journeyed 5km to Hyde Park; a different 5km route then took walkers back to the finish line, at the Law Society in Chancery Lane. Lord Chief Justice Lord Judge, Master of the Rolls Lord Neuberger and Attorney General Dominic Grieve QC MP were among those leading the group. Allen & Overy, Bates Wells & Braithwaite, Herbert Smith, Slaughter and May, and Wragge & Co were among the firms that entered teams.
