LawWorks 'legal Oscars' celebrate pro bono excellence

updated on 06 July 2012

The winners of the LawWorks Pro Bono Awards 2012 have been announced following a glamorous awards dinner held in June.

Linklaters won the best contribution by a law firm award for its "unwavering and substantial" support for the Mary Ward Legal Centre, including helping the clinic to move to new premises. Simmons & Simmons were highly commended in the same category. The winner in the regional firm category was Shoosmiths, which set up a free legal advice clinic in 2009 that has since become the model for subsequent pro bono projects. The best pro bono partnership award was secured by the "prompt and effective" service at the Birmingham Central Library Legal Advice Clinic, which is run by DLA Piper UK, Eversheds, Squire Sanders and Wragge & Co. The award for the best partner-level engagement was won by Paul Stone of DLA Piper.

In other news, LawWorks has produced a short film running at just under six minutes in length, aimed at capturing and expressing what the organisation stands for. To watch the film, follow the link here.
