Another week, another set of interesting business news stories to keep on top of. Herewith a small selection for your edification:
- Lord Thomas, the lord chief justice, has suggested that for some family and civil cases an inquisitorial system may be the way to go.
- Never knowingly… beaten by the competition! John Lewis has become the "darling of the high street", with record sales and all staff to benefit - a 15% bonus for everyone, from the chairman to the shelf-stackers.
- Massive $45 billion Comcast-Time Warner deal will be subject to antitrust probe by the US Department of Justice.
- Hundreds of solicitors and barristers march to protest legal aid cuts; although not strictly commercial, all lawyers should be worried about denial of access to justice and the erosion of a highly esteemed justice system.
