More info
Manchester Law School at Manchester Metropolitan University has been providing legal education in the North West of England for over 50 years. With strong interdisciplinary links, we cover all aspects of legal training. Study opportunities include the LLB, LLM, GDL and Bar vocational training plus newly developed courses to prepare students for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE).
Our courses are delivered by qualified and experienced tutors in a supportive and inclusive learning environment. By choosing to study at Manchester Met, our students have full access to university benefits such as a dedicated careers service, library, student union and wellbeing support.
We offer modern facilities, such as a state-of-the-art moot courtroom, lecture and seminar rooms and social and study spaces. Our students can gain work experience through the Pro Bono Network who work with a range of regional, national and international partners such as Support Through Court, Commercial Law Hub, Crown Prosecution Service, Citizens Advice, Shelter and the Greater Manchester Law Centre.
Our law school is only a short walk away from Manchester city centre, one of the largest legal and professional services centres outside of London. We have links with many chambers and firms in the North West including DWF Group Plc and Irwin Mitchell. These links give our students access to mentorship schemes to support you throughout your studies and in your future career.
Undergraduate law degrees
Our law degrees are designed to consider changes to legal education, training and practice and be fit for the 21st century. Take your first step on the path to becoming a solicitor or barrister, or to work in related professional services or academia.
SQE preparation
At Manchester Met, you can prepare for the SQE via two course routes:
- LLM Legal Practice (law graduates)
- LLM Graduate Legal Studies (non-law graduates)
Both courses have been designed to reflect the evolving legal landscape. Core units address business, technology and professional skills alongside projects directly relevant to practice roles. Additional units draw on the expertise of Manchester Law School academics in legal technology, commercial law, corporate practice, family and employment law.
